St Anthony of Padua Community Association has recently celebrated its silver jubilee and is justifiably proud of its many
achievements. In 1981 The Association began like a tiny mustard seed sown in the East End of the City, having a small impact
on a number of people young and old but soon began to make its mark.
Unemployment was then a great concern and prompted an initiative in training workshops. Many of the locals were assisted
to change direction in their lives and start new employment. Our success can only be measured as we sprung into new challenges,
in training, education and care of the young and old.
Today all hands are on deck to make a positive contribution to the regeneration programme in the East End of the City.
Through the Association the most vulnerable have a voice and the more isolated asylum seekers and refugees becoming more integrated.
The strategy of creating opportunities for local vulnerable people is central to our philosophy. Therefore the Association
is proposing a development programme for young people and ethnics giving them ownership of their programme, refurbishing their
facilities and the creation of a healthier environment.
